Torture, Terrorism, Death Squads when we stopped being the good guys
Sun Oct 07, 2007 at 02:22:34 PM PDT
A few days ago this essay was posted on docudharma it concerns state sponsored terrorism and torture enabled by the DoJ, CIA and of course our President. My response to the essay has evolved into a diary about the roots of our violent, regime changing, torturing, death squad, secret prisons and extraordinary rendition school of foreign relations.
Follow me below the fold for a glimpse of our shameful past, present and future and when we stopped being the good guys to the rest of the world.
35% of the Iraqi population is either dead, maimed or a refugee ** links

1 in 3 people is the stunning reality of this war and no one speaks for them

I wish to inform and hopefully to move you. I have gathered this information from various sources, UNICEF, the United Nations, WHO, medical journals and relief organizations. The figures are often based on estimates along with some verifiable reports and eye witness accounts because hard figures are difficult to gather. I tried, whenever possible to use multiple sources. Additionally, the UN places the prewar population of Iraq at 22 million. With numbers so large they are already incomprehensible, understand it is very likely the toll is greater than we can imagine or ever be able to document.

You are invited below the fold where I hope we will find a sense of proportion and perspective and most of all outrage.

Sun Sep 23, 2007 at 04:23:34 PM PDT
Are you sick of hearing about Taser abuse? Do you believe most people deserve getting Tasered? Are you unclear about why Tasers are even used and under what circumstances they were intended to be used?
You are invited below the fold for some essential information regarding the startling reality of Taser abuse. Hopefully armed with this knowledge be pissed off enough to do something in your town to change the use of something even more popular and equally as lethal as choke holds.

Do you ever wonder? The catch phrase made popular by humorist Andy Rooney. A 60 Minutes staple, he is both funny and thought provoking at the same time.
Please follow me below the fold for my take on that age old question along with a snark or two for good measure.

Of Justice and Immigration
Sun Mar 26, 2006 at 01:50:20 PM PDT
There is no justice in deporting illegal immigrants and there is no justice in amnesty. We have seen the dearth of just or humane solutions to our immigration issues. There have been no SOLUTIONS of any stripe. So we need to connect the dots here. Ask some obvious questions. Why does anyone come to this country illegally, risk the journey to live in virtual slavery with no say, no rights and substandard wages? They live in poverty we can't even imagine, unable to provide for themselves or their family in the most minimal way. What I discovered about Mexico, poverty and how this problem will never go away until we find a real RESOLUTION is below the fold.
Airport Security Experiences with poll
Sun Oct 23, 2005 at 10:26:18 AM PDT
I have taken two short vacations this year to the same place, same airports same clothes, similar times of day etc. Both were commuter flights starting and ending in the midwest by a grandmother in her 60s, one mid August and the other mid October. This is about my experience.
Who Voted For Terri's Law and the brave ones who didn't
Wed Mar 23, 2005 at 01:57:17 PM PDT
I hope no one has posted this link, it is the full list of the voting on Terri's Law.
http://clerk.house.gov/cgi-bin/vote.asp?year=2005&rollnumber=90
It is not just that they voted for Terri's Law, it is without regard for the truth they were not only carried along on the wave of hysteria but regurgitated it all trying to make it the new truth. How can they possibly be trusted to lead this country when they failed to lead themselves to the court documents, the objective findings of court appointed doctors and the decisions of no less than 19 Florida judges. Nope, they have to go and we have to let them know it is over. They will not be invited back to abuse their power or the Nation''s trust.
